Rough construction clean

The first phase of every WellKept job. Before any detail work can begin, the home has to be cleared of the debris every build leaves behind — drywall dust, wood shavings, caulk overruns, and tape residue. A thorough rough clean sets up a clean surface for the final pass and protects your finishes from being polished over dust.

What's included

Our rough clean targets the construction debris that settles across every surface after framing, drywall, and trim work. We clear it before the detail work begins — so nothing gets sealed in or polished over.

Rough construction cleaning is the foundation of a clean finish. Drywall dust in particular coats horizontal surfaces, ledges, and the inside of cabinetry, and if it isn't removed before the final pass it shows up on every surface your buyer touches at walk-through. We start here so the detail phase has a clean baseline to work from.

This phase is typically scheduled once the major trades have finished and before flooring finishes, cabinetry install, or final paint touch-ups. For builders running a tight close, the rough clean is what keeps the later phases on schedule — there's no catching up on debris removal during a final white-glove pass.

01

Rough debris removal

Drywall dust, wood shavings, caulk overruns, tape residue — removed before detail work begins.

02

Surface clearing

Horizontal surfaces, ledges, and cabinetry interiors cleared of construction dust so the detail phase has a clean baseline.

03

Floor prep

Loose debris swept and cleared from floors so later material-specific floor care isn't working over a layer of dust.

Every rough clean is documented with a checklist signed off by our lead technician. That record shows the condition of the home at the start of the finish phase — useful if a later trade raises a question about what was or wasn't on a surface before they worked.
Service FAQ

Questions about this service

When should the rough clean be scheduled?

Once the major trades have finished and before flooring finishes, cabinetry install, or final paint touch-ups. It clears the debris so the detail phase has a clean surface to work from.

Is the rough clean enough on its own?

No. The rough clean removes construction debris; it doesn't include the detail surface clean, glass and fixture polish, or material-specific floor care. Those belong to the final clean. Many builders book the full turnkey sequence so the phases line up with their close.

How is the rough clean priced?

Rough cleaning is the lowest per-square-foot phase in our estimator. You can get an approximate range with the pricing tool, then confirm it on a walk-through before work begins.
